Petition to create the post of Consumer Advocate

By : Maryse Guénette

The Consumers Council of Canada (CCC) believes that consumers could obtain better representation at the federal level through the establishment of an independent Consumer Advocate answerable to Parliament.  The CCC believes this would enable consumers to lobby their elected officials more effectively. Canadian citizens and residents who agree with this proposal are invited to sign a petition posted online by Jay Jackson, CAC Director of Policy and Strategy, by June 9. If the petition receives 500 or more e-signatures, it can be presented to the House of Commons.
